The Farmers Alliance of Canada (FAC) was a party active during MPSP13. It was led by the Rt. Hon. Kelden Formosa.

 Party Platform[]

The party claimed to be in the social credit tradition, representing good "salt of the earth" people living in small towns, villages and other rural communities throughout the country. The party's platform defended farmers, families, and pastoral country through a commitment to supply management, militia-based defences, and the future of farms.

The party was openly opposed to the economic and intellectual elites of the country present in the banks, universities and corporations of the country, who they claimed controlled the other parties.

Third Party[]

Prior to the opening to the 12th Parliament, party leader Formosa faced an internal leadership challenge from MP Hadyn Place. However, the challenge was later retracted after Place was given the opportunity to come to his senses.

On the first day of the new session, the WaSP government was soon defeated on a motion of confidence, and in the ensuing negotiations the FAC agreed to a coalition agreement with the True North Party, allowing the two to form government.

Bills and Legislation[]

The Farmers' Alliance advanced legislation to prevent the alleged "rot in children's brains" caused by watching television by defunding CBC TV and using the savings to expand CBC Radio's local operations across the country. FAC MPs argued that listening to the radio with family was a much more wholesome use of time than watching television. They also noted that listening to the radio would encourage children to develop and use their imaginations much more than watching TV, as they would have to create a mental picture of what they were hearing.
