The Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons (French: Vice-président de la Chambre des communes) is there to assist the Speaker of the House in their duties, rotating in to act as speaker, as well as help the Clerk with routine proceedings and the tabling of documents. The Deputy Speaker is appointed by the Governor General.
