The Honourable Dan Hux C.C., P.C. was a model parliamentarian active from MPSP15 up until his retirement from Model Parliament in MPSP19. Mr. Hux began his MPSP experience as a back bencher in the CCCC Party and after four subsequent model parliaments, he finished as a senior member of the Model Parliament Committee, two-time Clerk of the House of Commons, and the longest serving MP from the GREAT RIDING of Burlington. As a Member of Parliament, Mr. Hux's first portfolio position was Associate Critic for Foreign Affairs in the CCCC Party during MPSP15. Mr. Hux would then go on to serve as President of the Treasury Board in MPSP16 and then Leader of the Government in the House during MPSP17 all while serving his constituents from the GREAT RIDING of Burlington. During MPSP18, Mr. Hux would be selected to serve as Clerk of the House of Commons and to continue his work on the MPSP Planning Committee. As Clerk of the House, Mr. Hux was a key architect in remodeling the teaching methods for equipping participants on the many procedures and practices of parliament and of MPSP. During MPSP18, Mr. Hux also spearheaded efforts to make the procedures and operations of the Chamber during the sitting days more efficient as well as understandable for all members of the House of Commons, especially the Speaker of the House. As Clerk of the House, Mr. Hux's key responsibilities were to provide the Speaker with careful and strategic counsel on the many procedures and practices of the House as well as of MPSP norms and practices, ensuring the operations of the Chamber ran smoothly, and most importantly, encouraging all members to have a positive and memorable experience. The following simulation (MPSP19), would be Mr. Hux's final simulation. Mr. Hux would be selected to serve once again as Clerk of the House, this time however with a new Presiding Officers team and new cohort of Model Parliamentarians. After serving in five Model Parliaments, Mr. Hux firmly believes that Model Parliament is where participants will meet their best friends in University. Mr. Hux also believes that Model Parliament is only as good as its participants, therefore the effort to make sure participants were well informed and making the most out of their experience was always a top priority for him. In his retirement from MPSP, Mr. Hux hopes to transition the new Speakers and Clerks for MPSP20 and subsequent simulations.
